I am sharing this not to show myself as better than others, but simply to share my experience and how I understood it at that time.

Once in Odessa, I began to think that Judaism might be closer to the Lord than Orthodoxy, and I even headed toward a synagogue. I was walking along Stepova Street and turned onto Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street. A man was walking toward me and asked me, “Is the church open?” (I no longer remember the exact dialogue.)

At that moment, I thought he meant the Alekseevskaya Church near Alekseevskaya Square. Then I had a strong feeling that it was important for me to remain in Orthodoxy and to go to church. I had never experienced something like that before.
